About three years ago Ernest, his brother and sister lived with their parents in Morrison, Ill. Trouble arose over the right to considerable property, and finally the father was murdered and his body burned in the bar on the homestead. Ernest and his brother were arrested and placed in jail. The brother died in jail, and Ernest was sentenced to fourteen years at the penitentiary in November, 1891. Ernest was healthy when he arrived in the prison, but soon showed symptoms of consumption, of which disease he died. He never confessed the crime. His sister was at his bedside during his last hours.
