Thacker, 66, Peotone, died Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at his home. Visitation: 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday Fedde-Helfrich Chapel, Peotone. Funeral services: 10 a.m. Saturday at the Peotone United Methodist Church. Rev. Timothy Mitchell will officiate. Graveside services: 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Riverside Cemetery in Saybrook. Pallbearers: Ray Welsh, Bob Allen, John Hack, Warren Asbrand, Ted Kochel, Ronnie Schubbe, Clyde Love and Wilbur Teske. Memorials may be made to Peotone United Methodist Church. He was a retired trooper for the Illinois State Police and highway commissioner for Peotone Township. Born November 18, 1940, in Pekin, Son of Inest and Lucille Jones Thacker. Loved antique tractors and belonged to the Central Illinois Green Club. Attended the Peotone United Methodist Church. Member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Highway Commissioners Association, Township Officials of Illinois and Trooper Lodge 51. Surviving: Wife, the former Ann Schaefer of Peotone, whom he married December 6, 1958, in Saybrook; 1 son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Sherry Thacker of Danville; 1 daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and James Clarke of Peotone; 7 grandchildren, Matthew and Missy Mort of Grant Park, Robert Mort of Carbondale, Joseph Mort of Peotone, Brittany Thacker of Peotone, Chris Thacker of Peotone, Brandy Neufeld and Renae Neufeld, both of Danville; 3 great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Tyler Mort, Tre Neufeld; His mother of LeRoy; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald and Shirley Thacker of Crawfordsville, Indiana, Richard and Donna Thacker of Farmer City; and 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruby and David Johnson of Saybrook, Carol and Michael Townsend of Oakley.
