Werner, 89, of Peotone, died Friday, February 23, 2007, at Beecher Manor Nursing Home. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 311 W. Corning Avenue, Peotone. Rev. William Riegle will officiate. Memorials may be made to Immanuel United Church of Christ or to the Peotone Women's Club. Mr. Werner retired from Country Companies Insurance, where he was employed for 42 years. He was born December 14, 1917, in Peotone, the son of Henry and Mary Borms Werner. His first wife of 52 years, the former Lotus Meyer, died in 1993. He was on the Will County Fair Board. He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, where he served as an elder and board member. Surviving are his wife, the former Glenne McKee, whom he married July 10, 1998, in Las Vegas; one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald M. and Joyce Werner of Peotone; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou and Wayne Ruder of Sugar Grove; one stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, J. Scott and Virginia Buckner of Springfield, Missouri; one stepdaughter, Sherri Hopewell of Peotone; seven grandchildren, Lisa (Kevin) Nietfeldt of Peotone, Jeff (Jennifer) Werner of Bonfield, David Werner of Denver, Colorado, Andrew (Suzie) Werner of Bradley, John (Jennifer) Werner of Peotone, Todd (Kathryn) Ruder of Belvidere, Tracey (Dan Buntley) Ruder of Arlington Heights; seven stepgrandchildren, Trevor Hopewell and Shane Hopewell, both of Peotone, Melody Buckner, Samantha Buckner, Summer Buckner, Cora Buckner, and James Buckner Jr., all of Springfield, Missouri; one sister and brother-in-law, Marion and Arthur Feid of Glen Ellyn; and one sister-in-law, Lillian (Meyer) Scrivens of Peotone. Deceased are one brother, Harold Werner; and one sister, Mildred Werner.
