I came across this obit which I thought might be of interest to members of the list. This does not relate to the Campbell surname that I am researching personally. Nancy Giles Wm. H. Campbell, 100, Founder of IEA, Dies In Chicago Chicago, April 16 - (AP) - William H. Campbell, a founder of the Illinois Education Association, died yesterday at the age of 100. He apparently passed away in his sleep at the home of his son- in-law, J. Leonard Hancock here. Born in Chester county, Pa., Campbell taught school in Kentucky, Missouri and Illinois. He also had served as a Methodist circuit preacher in Illinois and as a Congregational preacher in Missouri. In 1898 he left his post as superintendent of schools in Joliet, Ill., to become principal of the Taylor and Wentworth schools in Chicago. He was a past president of the Chicago Principals' club and until his death he served as director of the Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include three daughters, two sons, 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held at the small farm Campbell owned near White Pigeon, Mich.
