Obit of A. H. Whittington Dated in by hand in ink as Dec 21, 1946. Newspaper unknown. Dr. Whittington, 78, Johnston City, Succumbed Today Dr. A.H. Whittington, 58, died at his home 407 West Eighth street, in Johnston City, today at 9:05 am. He had been in ill health for the past three years and critical for about a month. Dr. Whittington, a dentist, was a resident of Johnston City 34 years. He was born at Benton on Dec 31, 1887. He was a member of the First Baptist church at Johnston City, a past master of the Masonic Lake Creek Lodge 729 and treasurer of that organization for the past 27 years. He was a member of the BPO Elks lodge at Marion and of the Rotary Club at Johnston City, serving six years as secretary of the latter club until ill health recently forces his resignation. Dr. Whittington is survived by his wife Mary Foran Whittington, who he married at Marion in 1919, and by three sisters, Mrs. John Wallace, Marion, Mrs. Robert Hickman and Mrs. E. O. Dial, both of Benton, and two brothers Sylvester, Marion and George, Seattle, Wash. The body will lie in state at the home in Johnston City. Funeral rites will be observed at 2 'o'clock Monday afternoon from the First Baptist Church in Johnston City, with Rev. L.H. Moore of Anna, former pastor officiating, assisted by Rev. Paul Higgins, pastor. Interment will be in Rose Hill cemetery at Marion.
