Doughty, age 70 of Crab Orchard, died at 11:15 a.m. December 2, 1998 at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah. He was retired from Freeman #4 Mine, attended Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church of Poordo. He was a member of U.M.W. of A. VFW Post 1301, and was a Navy veteran of WWII. He was born October 8, 1928, in Pittsburg to Andrew Earl and Evely (Duty) Doughty. He married Peggy (Currey) Doughty on November 8, 1952, in Johnston City, and she survives in Crab Orchard. Other survivors include 3 sons and one daughter-in-law, Dennis Doughty of Houston, Texas, Brad Doughty of Marion, and Danny and Patti Doughty of Benton; three grandchildren, Todd Doughty of New York and Courtney and Bryce Doughty, both of Benton; one brother, Earl Doughty of Alton; and one sister, Elaine Knepper of Evansville, Indiana. He was preceeded in death by his parents, one brother Don Doughty and one sister June McGuire. Funeral services for Jimmie L. Doughty will be held at 1 p.m Saturday, December 5, 1998, at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Gary Holmes officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Poordo. Friends may call between 5 and 9 p.m. Friday, December 4, 1998, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
