Obit of Gertie Belle Hickey Stover Sanders Dated in by hand in ink as Sept. 1962, no specific date given. Newspaper unknown. Mrs. Sanders Dies Suddenly. Elderly Woman Found Dead at Whiteash Home by Neighbor. Mrs. Gertie Bell Sanders, 74, mother of Waldo Stover, Route 1, Marion, was found dead at about 9 am Thursday at her home at Whiteash, by a neighbor who went to visit her. Mrs. Sanders who had been ill for several months with high blood pressure had a heart ailment was found on a couch in the living room of her home. She had been to see a doctor on Wednesday and her blood pressure had been very high at the time. Mrs. Sanders, the stepmother of Rev. A.N. Sanders of Herrin, Baptist minister, apparently had been dead several hours. Coroner Paul Litton was to conduct an inquest Thursday. Born in Shelbyville, June 11, 1887, the deceased was the daughter of the late James and Rose Fisher Hickey. She was first married to Arnie Stover who died in 1913. She later married Albert Sanders who's death occurred November 2, 1958. Survivors, in addition to those mentioned are two sons, Orwin Stover, Melrose Park; and Robert Sanders of Johnston City; three daughters, Mrs. Carl Schwegler, Chicago; Mrs. Tony Merredyk and Mrs. Leroy Blass of Detroit, Mich.; a step-daughter, Miss Pauline Sander, Herrin; two brothers, Tom and Charles Hickey, Rout 1, Marion; 29 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren. Mrs. Sanders was a member of the Whiteash Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements were incomplete Thursday at Murman-Wilson Funeral home, Johnston City where friends may call after 6 pm Friday.
