Obituary of Charles "Fletcher" GREENEY, Williamson County, IL Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 1999 June McDowall Name of Deceased: Charles "Fletcher" GREENEY Name of Newspaper: Unknown Date of Newspaper: Unknown OBIT for CHARLES FLETCHER GREENEY 1876 - 1962 CHARLES FLETCHER GREENEY, son of VICENT and CAROLINE BURNS GREENEY, was born April 10, 1876 near Corinth, Illinois and departed this life February 17, 1962, having reached the age of 85 years, 10 months, and 7 days. His parents passed away when he was quite young, and he was reared to young manhood by his Uncle WASH and Aunt JANE GREENEY. He was united in marriage to Miss EMMA FRANCES CULBRETH on December 12, 1900 in Poordo, and to his union 7 children were born. He was converted at the age of 15, in the Corinth Methodist church, later transferring his membership to Indian Camp Baptist church, where it remained until the time of his passing. Mr. GREENEY followed the work of farming, until forced by ill health to retire. He and Mrs. GREENEY moved to Creal Springs several years ago, where he made many friends, only recently moving to Marion. He is survived by his wife and the following children: Mrs. LORA GURLEY, Buncombe; Mrs. FLORA FOSTER, Marion; Mrs. NINA BYRN, Marion; James "ARTIE" GREENEY, Chicago; CARL GREENEY, Pittsburg; RANDALL GREENEY, Elkhart, IN; and Mrs. HELEN LIND, Elgin. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, and 17 great- grandchildren. Mr. GREENEY was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, JOHN and JIM, one sister SARAH, and one half-brother MILTON GREENEY. He was a loving and devoted companion, a kind father and grandfather, and a good neighbor and friend, and he will be sadly missed by all.
