Obit of Mrs. John V. Batts Date hand written in ink says "Died April 7, buried April 9, 1948. Newspaper unknown. Mrs. John Batts, 29, Succumbs in Hospital Here. Mrs. John V. Batts, 29, died at 3:40 this morning at Union hospital, where she had been a patient for treatment and observation since last Friday. Mrs. Batts, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Ice, who resided southeast of this city, was a native of this community. She was a member of the Northern Baptist Church. Besides her husband and parents, she is survived by five sisters, Mrs. Frank Odel, Mrs. Freeman Harris, Mrs. Cecil Wilson and Mrs. Irma Ice, who reside southeast of this city, and Mrs. Roy Nolan of West Frankfort. The body will be removed at 6:30 pm to the Batts home, 216 South Locust Street, to lie in state. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Northern Baptist Church. Rev. Walter Thompson of Charleston, former pastor, will officiate assisted by Rev. Fred Roberts, church pastor. Burial will be in the Tower Heights cemetery.
