Obit of Luster Bowyer Dated in by hand in ink as June 13, 1955. Newspaper unknown. Luster Bowyer Dies Here; Rites Are Wednesday Luster A. Bowyer, 71, 210 West Poplar Street, prominent former local businessman, died at 12:15 pm Monday. Bowyer, a retired carpenter had been in ill health the past year and a half. He formerly operated a furniture and hardware business here with his brother W.W. (Buck) Bowyer, and operated garages on South Anna and West Main streets. He was a member of the local carpenters union and a member of the First Baptist church here since 1902. Survivors include his wife Sarah; two daughters, Mrs. Nola Williams of Johnston city and Mrs. Ellen Smith of West Frankfort; one son, Rolla Bowyer of Girad Ill.; seven grand children and one great-grandchild. Two brothers W.T. (buck) Bowyer of West Frankfort and Manna (Dick) Bowyer of Johnston City, and two sisters Mrs. Grace Barnett of Desoto and Mrs. Ethel Roberts of Chicago also survive. Funeral rites will be observed at 2 pm Wednesday at the First Baptist church with Rev. John Attey, Cairo, former pastor of the Central Methodist church here, officiating. Interment will be at Boner cemetery, south of this city. The body will lie in state at the Stone funeral home, 201 East Popular Street after 7 pm today. The body will then be taken to church at 1 pm Wednesday to lie in state until funeral rites, when the casket will be closed.
