Obit of Mary Elizabeth Fleming Dated June 24, 1940 in ink at the top of the clipping. Newspaper unknown but probably Marion. Funeral Rites for Mrs. M.E. Fleming Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon for Mrs. M.E. Fleming at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sam Ahls of Marion, Rt. 1 with Rev. S.M. Foulon, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Johnston City in charge. A quartet from the Johnston City church, composed of Mrs. Mary Frances Gillespie, Miss Naomi Foulon, Dr. C.C. Gillespie and Tom Benton sang "The Old Rugged Cross," "Unclouded Day," and "How Tedious and Tasteless." Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased and included Jud Fleming, Lester Fleming, Robert Fleming Fleming Ahls and Walter G. Fleming. The flowers were carried by the following: Mrs. Louise Swain, Mrs. Vinnie Shirley, Mrs. Lyla Shadowens, Mrs. Lester Fleming, Mrs. Elbert Smoot and Misses Elizabeth Felts, Helen Felts, Katherine Felts, Rosemary Felts, Ruth Fleming, Mary Fleming Patricia Fleming, Margaret Ann Fleming and Thelma Fleming. Interment was in the Barham cemetery at Marion. (**NOTE** M.E. Fleming is Mary Elizabeth Newton, wife of Richard Graham Fleming and daughter of John Henry Draper Newton and Sarah Elizabeth Barham.)
