Apr 3, 1908--GEORGE MORHART, aged 62 years, resident of Holden, Johnson Co, MO; declaration for pension; stated he was born Mar 31, 1846 at Woodford Co, IL; witnesses JESSE BOWER and O.C. BYLER. May 20, 1908--GEORGE MORHART, aged 62 years, resident of Holden, Johnson Co, MO; stated "that the copy of family record marked Exhibit A accompaning this affidavit was copied from the family bible kept by my Father and used by him as a record of the births and deaths of his children". May 20, 1908--J.W. GREENWOOD, Justice of the Peace for Madison Twp, Johnson Co, MO, certified "Exhibit A - Copy of family record": "1846, den 31st Mardz ist maen sohn George zur weld geboren" "Translated from the German - 'A.D. 1846, on the 31st of March, my son George was born'". The Justice of the Peace certified that "the above and foregoing is a true copy of family record made showing date of birth of the claimant George Morehart [sic]...and certify that the Bible in which the above record is made bears date of the year of 1847 and bears no marks of erasure or alteration, and from the appearance of the writing I believe the entries to have been made about the dates given". Apr 8, 1915--GEORGE MORHART, Holden, MO; questionnaire from Bureau of Pensions; stated that his marriage was recorded at "Court House Quincy, Illinois St. Marys Church Quincy Illinois Both Since Destroyed by Fire"; that he was not previously married when he married CATHARINE FUCHS and that she was not previously married; that he is now living with his wife.
