He had been working at the lower end of his room, and came to the road head to mine a little, while his “buddy” finished loading a car, preparatory to going home, when a piece of rock fell without warning, killing him instantly. The rock weighed about 2,500 pounds. It was exposed on two sides by “slips” running into each other at right angles. Deceased leaves a widow and three children, all dependent.
