John U Hofer                  This Indenture Witnesseth
To      Deed                  that John U Hofer and
Stephen Hocker                Anna Barbara Hofer his wife
                              of Adams County in the State
of Indiana Convey and Warrant to Stephen Hocker
of Adams County in the State of Indiana for the Sum
of One thousand Dollars the following Real Estate in
Adams County in the State of Indiana to wit:
   Being the East half of the South West quarter and
the South West quarter of the South East quarter of Section
three (3) containing one hundred and twenty acres of land
more or less.    In witness whereof the said John
U Hofer and Anna Barbara Hofer his wife have hereto
Set their hands and Seals this thirteenth day of April A.D. 1840.

Before me Frederick Engeler a Justice of the peace in and for said
County this thirteenth day of April A.D. 1864 personally came John U.
