The unfortunate woman was a daughter of the Rev. F. Lauer, a Universalist minister, living near Piqua, Ohio. She was a very intelligent woman, and very handsome. At one time she gained an extensive reputation as a lecturer. Later she and her family lived at Moncie, where she taught stenography in a business college, while her husband was in the insurance business. Letters left by Mrs. Baldwin prove her to have been insane. In one of these letters she asked that Abel Baldwin, of Fort Wayne, be notified of her death.
