He had been engaged as a thresher for 50 summers. Mr. Sheets the son of Solomon and Elizabeth Sheets, had been ill of heart trouble and paralysis for at least a year. Forty-three years ago he was married to Nannie Moyer, who survives him. He was a member of the Church of the Brethren, and attended the Union Center church, where he was a deacon. Surviving him in addition to Mrs. Sheets, are a daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Mishler of New Paris; two sons, George at home and Curtis of three miles south of Wakarusa; seven grandchildren; two brothers, George and John O. Sheets of near Nappanee. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Union Center church and burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. The Rev. Frank Kreider of near Elkhart, assisted by the Rev. David Miller, will officiate. Mr. Sheets, who was born in Van Wert county, Ohio, Jan 25, 1856, was brought to Elkhart county when six years old. His father became one of the most prominent citizens of Union township, serving them as township trustee for eight years.
