The Franklin Democrat, Friday, April 17, 1891, Volume XXXI Number 43, page 3 column 2
L. J. Hackney Sr. died at his home in Columbus last Friday afternoon of lung fever.
The remains were 
taken to Shelbyville for interment. He was for many years a prominent citizen of
Edinburg and stood 
high in the estimation of all who knew him.
