Mrs. Knight, wife of Wm. Knight, of Columbus, died last Wednesday afternoon from a gunshot wound she received early that morning. Immediately after the shooting Dr. A. J. Banker was called, but medical assistance could not save her life. To a question of Dr. Banker she said her husband had shot her and then again she said she had shot herself, but she was delirious and did not know what she was saying. The entire contents of the gun had entered her abdomen, making a terrible wound from which the blood flowed freely. She was 22 years old and had been married to Mr. Knight about five years. Dr. Banker is said to be of the opinion that the woman shot herself accidentally. Additional Comments: Note:  The Indiana WPA Death Index, 1882-1920, referencing Book HD-5, page 30, records that Leave Knight, a 21 year old white female, died 23 Feb 1898 in Columbus, Indiana.
