The Franklin Democrat, Friday, December 16, 1898, Volume XXXIX, Number 23, page 3, column 2
Mrs. J. H. Ragsdale died Monday at one o’clock from peritonitis at her home in
Columbus, after an illness of 
ten days.  The remains were taken to Pana, Ill., her former home, for interment. 
She leaves an infant son 
which has been taken by its grandmother, Mrs. Fred Ragsdale, of Hensley township, to
be cared for.  George 
Ragsdale, of the college, accompanied his brother with the remains, Tuesday, to
their resting place in Illinois.

Note:  The Bartholomew County WPA Death Index, 1882-1920, referencing Book HD-6A,
page 4, records that 
Anna Ragsdale, a 32 year old white female, died 12 Dec  1898 in Columbus.
