Blackford County Indiana The Evening News Hartford City March 8, 1911 Prominent Montpelier Business Man Succumbs C.H. CLOUD, one of Montpelier's best known and respected business men and citizens passed away at his home on north Jefferson street after a lingering illness of one year, death being due to cancer of the stomach. Last summer Mr. Cloud went to Rochester, Minn., for his health and while there an operation was performed, but it proved of no avail, as the dreadful disease had eaten away so much of the lining of the stomach that nothing could be done to prevent its progress. Mr. Cloud has had a jewelry store in this city for the past twenty-six years and was actively engaged in his business up to within the last year or so. He proved to be one of Montpelier's influential citizens, and the fine two story building on east High street stands as a monument to his name. He was a member of the local lodge of Knights of Prythias and last Tuesday, one week ago today, when that order held its big district meeting previous arrangements were set aside and the line of march changed that the knights of the order he loved so well might pass his house and permit him to see them in parade. While the deceased had been ill for over a year he sat up the greater part of the time but during the last few days he had been confined to his bed. -Montpelier Herald. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Church of Christ. Rev. B.F. HARRIS, of Hicksville, O. will officiate and interment will be made in the IOOF cemetery. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- USGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organization or persons.
