WORTH TOWNSHIP is located in the southeast quarter of the county. On the west it is bounded by Center and Perry townships, on the east by Union and Eagle, on the south by Eagle and Perry, and on the north by Center and Union. It is six miles in length, and its greatest bread% is four miles It would require three square miles off of Union township, added to the northeast corner of Worth, to make it a square body of land; it would then be six by four miles, being longest north and south. It contains twenty-one square miles. Worth township is one among the best in the county. The land is generally level and very productive. The township is well timbered, with a valuable quality of timber. The headwaters of some of the branches of Eagle Creek flow through and out of Worth township; they are, however, useless, except for drainage and stock water. The county roads and school-houses are generally in good repair, but might be made still a little better. In the way of private enterprise and improvements, Worth township stands well up in the scale. The people are energetic, industrious and intelligent. They are also affable and hospitable with strangers, always welcoming them to their homes. The I., C & L. R. R. runs through the central part of the township, thereby giving to it an excellent outlet for its surplus products. Whitestown, located a little east and south of the township's center, is a flourishing little village, and commands a lively country trade. Its population is not large, but made up of lively material. The people of the township are favorable to morals and education, as their school-houses and churches will testify. There are eight school-houses, all in good repair, valued at about $5000. The voting population of Worth township is about 400, with a large democratic majority. SECRET ORGANIZATIONS.
