ALLIE HUFFMAN Died at the home of her father, Allie Huffman, daughter of W.A. and Rebecca Shirley, Was born April 24, 1876, departed this life June 6, 1897, aged 21 years, 2 months and 12 days. She leaves a husband, little daughter Zora, father, mother, grandmother a host of relatives friends to mourn her lost. She joined the M.P. Church at Milledgeville February 11, 1888 and was baptized and received into full connection in the church by Rev. W.H. Rogers; united in marriage with J.T. Huffman February 11,1894, by Rev. W.H. Fisher. She was taken sick February 4, 1896, and lingered more than 18 months. She was a great sufferer but bore her affliction with Christian patience and fortitude until death released her. She made arrangements for her own funeral and on the day before her death assisted in song and prayer and said she was ready to go. When the end grew nigh, she bade her husband and friends "good bye" and said "Meet me in heaven". Our loss is her gain. She has gone from the church militant to join the church triumphant. Funeral services took place at the Milledgeville M.P. Church, conducted by the writer, after which the remains were laid away to rest on the sunny slope in the beautiful cemetery at Old Union.
