Logan had been in Lebanon visiting a brother and had started to walk to Indianapolis, but after passing Whitestown he was overtaken by a train which he attempted to board while it was going at a high rate of speed. He was hurled with terrible force down an embankment and striking a board fence was killed instantly. His body was picked up and taken back to Lebanon and was buried in the Brockway cemetery three miles from the city.
