MORGANTOWN.

Mrs. Lewis Jones died Sunday at 10 o’clock a.m. after a lingering illness of several
months, from a 
complication of diseases. Mrs. Jones was born in Maryland June 24, 1827 [sic] and
came to Indiana with her 
parents in 1854, and they settled on a government claim in Brown County. She married
Lewis Jones in 1859, 
and to this happy union six children were born, three of whom are now living. She is
a sister of Samuel Turner 
of this place. The deceased was aged 70 years, 10 months and 23 days. She leaves a
kind and affectionate 
husband, many relatives and a host of friends to mourn their loss. Funeral services
were held at Georgetown 
[Brown County] Monday. Interment at the family cemetery near there.

Note: Margaret (Turner) Jones’ gravestone records her birth date as 22 Jun 1826.
Calculation of her birthdate 
from her age at death gives the same date as the one on her gravestone.

The 1880 US Federal Census for Jackson, Brown County, Indiana, records
fifty-five-year-old, Ohio-born 
farmer Lewis Jones, his fifty-three-year-old, Maryland-born wife Margaret A.
[Turner] Jones, their thirty-two-
year-old Ohio-born widowed daughter Elizabeth Gladden, their Indiana-born
grandchildren, ten-year-old 
John and six-year-old E. Lillian Gladden, and Margaret’s eighty-one-year-old,
Maryland-born mother, 
Elizabeth Turner.
