The Franklin Democrat, Friday, August 18, 1899, Volume XL, Number 6, page 1, column 3
Joshua Matheney [sic], age seventy years, died suddenly August 9, of apoplexy, at
his home near Spearsville.  
Funeral services were held Friday under the auspices of the Masonic order.
