Carroll County Indianan bio & obit - Boone Family BIRTHDAY NOTICE OF MRS. ELIZABETH (OYLER) BOONE Indiana Newspaper Article; June 12, 1938 "(Special to The Indianapolis Star.)" "Although she had felt she would not live to see the day, Mrs. Elizabeth Boone, Carroll county’s oldest resident, quietly observed her 101st anniversary Thursday at the local home of her daughter, Mrs. Moss Meador." "Born in Virginia, she was married in 1865 to Josiah Boone, a descendant of Daniel Boone.  At the close of the Civil War they came to Indiana and settled in Howard county but four years later emigrated to Iowa by covered wagon.  Later they moved on into Kansas but within six years the grasshopper plague had eaten them out of their farm produce, so they came back to Indiana, where she has lived since." "Mr. Boone died 18 years ago, but six of their 10 children survive.  Among them is Charles Boone of Indianapolis.  Mrs. Boone has been bedfast three months and for that reason the birthday celebration was quiet.  However, in addition to receiving congratulations from scores of friends, she received the felicitations of her six children, her 25 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and her 19 great great grandchildren."
