Odell (1916) CATHARINE JANE BOWEN. Catharine J. Bowen was born in Calcutta, India, December 23, 1826. Her father and mother, the Rev. Samuel Trawin and wife, were missionaries, sent to India by the London Missionary Society in 1818. Mr. Trawin died in India. Mrs. Bowen, with her mother and family, came to the state of Virginia and in 1844 she came to Delphi. At the age of twenty-three she was married to Abner H. Bowen. She was the mother of nine children. She was a member of the Presbyterian church nearly all her life. She conveyed to her church the lot upon which the church building now stands and was a large supporter to its finances. She was a highly esteemed and most exemplary mother. Her husband died on February 10, 1890. Mrs. Bowen died on August 15, 1914. She was survived by three sons and one daughter.
