Odell (1916) GEORGE W. PIGMAN. George W. Pigman was born in Clermont county, Maryland, August 31, 1811. His father and mother, Joshua and Naney Pigman, were natives of the state of Maryland and moved to Ohio in 1836. George W. Pigman came to Delphi in the year 1836, and for thirty years was engaged in the mercantile business. He was married to Caroline S. Armstrong, in Ripley county, Ohio, April 5, 1838, and to this union were born eight children, five sons and three daughters, namely: William, George, James C. Frank, Charles, Mary B., Lillie and Lucy. Of the above named, William, Frank, Lucy and James are dead. Mr. Pigman was county auditor from 1842 to 1851, county commissioner in 1869, and clerk of the Carroll circuit court from 1879 to 1882. He was a member of the Delphi Methodist Episcopal church for many years and a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. His wife died on November 10, 1910, at the age of ninety years. He died in 1882, leaving his wife and the following named children: James, George, Charles, Mary B. (Pigman) Dewey, Lillie (Pigman) Pollard, and Lucy (Pigman) Anderson, of whom Mrs. Lucy Anderson and James Pigman have since died.
