Odell (1916) JOHN G. TROXELL. John G. Troxell was born in Jackson county, Alabama, December 30, 1830, and with his fathers family came to Carroll county, Indiana, in the year 1840, and resided near Pittsburg. In 1861 he enlisted in Company C, Forty-sixth Regiment Indiana Volunteer Infantry, and at the close of the period of enlistment, re-enlisted on the 20th of July, 1863, was promoted captain and served the three years and on account of ill health was discharged on April 4, 1865. John G. Troxell was married to Mary E. Gosnell, April 7, 1865, and to this union were born three daughters. He served one term as county commissioner, during which the iron bridge across the Tippecanoe river was built. He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons and a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He died at his residence in Delphi, November 16, 1898, survived by his widow and three children.
