All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/in/infiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Janet Hall halltall@aol.com May 8, 2007, 3:50 pm Hoosier Democrat, Flora, Ind, Sat 11 Nov 1911 DEATH DRAWS CURTAIN ON LIFE OF A PIONEER LADY Mrs. Susan EIKENBERRY, widow of the late Christian EIKENBERRY, died at her home on East Columbia street last Saturday morning, after an illness of long duration of dropsy, aged 83 years, 8 months and 7 days. She had resided in Monroe township practically all her long life and was known and loved by a large circle of friends. She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Susan TOLER, Mrs. David LANDIS, Mrs. Hiel LANDIS, Mrs. Joseph ROSKUSKI, and Miss Emaline, who was yet at home; three sons, Elias F. of Elwood, Jacob H. of Onward, and Daniel G. of Bloomington, Ill, all of whom were present at the funeral services. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. John WOLF of Converse, and Mrs. Rebecca SHAFER of Indianapolis, and three brothers: Jacob OVERHOLSER of Indianapolis, Albert OVERHOLSER of California, and Daniel OVERHOLSER of this city. There are 18 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. The funeral was held at the Old Order church Monday at 10 o clock, Elders John FLORA and Amos FLORA officiating. Interment was made in the MOSS cemetery. Additional Comments: She was b in Preble co Ohio, daughter of Samuel Overholser and Susannah Earhart. Her husband Chris Eikenberry died in 1906.
