Peel, Nelson Sumner and another employe named Callaghan were badly
scalded and bruised, the first named dying from the effects of his injures
three days later.
    A magazine explosion at the plant of the United States Powder
Company, within a mile of the town of Coalmont, at 7:30 o’clock on the
morning of the 17th of March, 1908, resulted in four fatalities. The
victims were George Gorby, Alonzo Smith, Crete Simmons and Charles
Myers. George Gorby, Jr., and a man named Stewart were also injured,
but not fatally.
