He was born in Davis County, Indiana the first day of March 1838. He took part in many of the most notable battles of the greatest Civil War known to history, beginning with the battle of Shiloh and continuing the course of contest until the engagement at Bentonville, N.C. At the close of the war he returned to his farm and resided until 1883, when he moved to Hand County, D.T. (Dakota Territory) In 1894 he was elected to represent his district in the State Legislature, in which he served one term. This text is probably copyright of The Miller Press. Miller, SD.
