James P.Hamilton died in Decatur Co.IN  Jan 17,1844 at the age of 51 years and 7 days. Ralph  Clark's work. "Regarding James P.Hamilton, I am quoting from the Court Records of Decatur Co.IN, compiled by Maurice Holmes ( a cousin of mine)  " On his application, Garrard Morgan was appointed administrator Feb.6,1844 of the estate of James P.Hamilton deceased with James B.Foley and Chatfield Howell as his securities. Filed in court was an inventory of James's personal property appraised by John Whitlow and Joshua Clark, which was insufficient to pay the debts of the estate and the administrator petitioned  the court to sell James' real estate in section 33, township 11, range 9 of 80 acres.  At his death he left his heirs: the widow Margaret, Jesse T.Hamilton, Garrard and Eliza Morgan late Eliza Hamilton, George W, and wife Sarah Jane Hopkins, and John T. Sarah M.,* David W.,* Francis P. and *Garrard  M. Hamilton *were minors.  Jesse T. was listed as a non-resident of IN.  The real estate was purchased by Paris Aldrich.  Final settlement was made in Feb. 1848 with the administrator paying part of the claims against the estate out of his own funds." James P. Hamilton had a connection with Alfred Dailey and his wife Susannah Hedrick  Gregg. In 1841: "Michael D. Hedrick  came into court and offered the non-cuptive (oral) will of Alfred Dailey Deceased and it was proved by James P.Hamilton and Thomas Deem witness to said will. Michail D.Hedrick and James P.Hamilton were appointed administrators of Alfred's estate with the will annexed widow Susannah relinquished rights to act as admix.  Heirs Martha Ann, John Hedrick, Minerva J., Aaron G., Rebecca E., William A.,Loretta S., and Mary Greg. Nov. 25,1841" "Decatur Co. IN Court Abstracts" The Daileys, Clarks, Greggs, Hamiltons came from Flemingsburg, Bourbon Co.
