Auburn Man Stricken Driving an Automobile Manoah Miller Dies at Garrett Hospital Following a Stroke of Apoplexy Manoah Miller of East Seventh street, Auburn, died Tuesday night in the Sacred Heart hospital in Garrett, without regaining consciousness from the sudden stroke of apoplexy which he suffered Tuesday about noon. Mr. Miller was stricken while driving his automobile after he had crossed the township line from Newville into Stafford township on the way to Butler. With Mr. Miller at the time was a state tax collector, Mr. Miller having been engaged to drive on his trips about the county. Mr. Miller suddenly stopped talking to the official who observed him slipping down in his seat as the car swerved toward the ditch at the side of the road. The stricken man was taken to Butler and from there to Garrett to the hospital where death claimed him ten hours later, at 10:45 p.m. Mr. Miller was a well known retired farmer who has resided in Auburn for more than nine years. He was born at Ada, Ohio, April 9, 1858, and his age at the time of his death was 66 years, 10 months and 8 days. After his marriage, July 26, 1884, to Cynthia Loutzenhiser of Ada, Mr. Miller, a republican in politics was elected to the office of township trustee and also filled the office of assessor. Three children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Miller, all of whom survive, Frank Miller of Fort Wayne, Joe Miller residing on his father's farm east of Auburn, and Deane Miller, the daughter who lives at home. Mr. Miller and his family moved to DeKalb county 17 years ago. Nine years ago the deceased gave up active work of farming and came to Auburn to make his home. Besides the widow and three children, Mr. Miller is survived by a sister, Mrs. Jane Charles of Massillon, Ohio and by eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at the late home, Rev. Joseph Ferguson in charge.
