Applegate, 75, a well-known man throughout the county, died at his home, in Cammack, at 6 o’clock yesterday morning. His death came as the result of an accident which occurred twelve weeks ago. At that time Applegate was breaking up some boxes in his store at Cammack, and in some manner bruised his right heel. At the time the injury seemed of little consequence. A few weeks later it proved serious, and gangrene developed. Physicians found it necessary to amputate the limb just above the knew. This was done, but the spread of the disease continued, and the other limb and both hands became affected. His death had been expected for the past few days. Mr. Applegate was born and reared in this county. He was a veteran of the Civil War, having enlisted in Company D, Eighty-fourth regiment, Indiana volunteers. He has conducted a notion store in Cammack for a number of years. A widow and twelve children survive. The funeral service will be conducted from Pleasant Run church Sunday morning the cortege leaving the residence at 9:30 o’clock. Interment will be made in Jones cemetery.
