Justice had been to Muncie to dispose of a load of wood and was returning home when the accident occurred. He evidently did not hear the rapidly approaching train, for according to reports he drove onto the tracks directly in front of it. Justice’s body was thrown a distance of about fifteen feet and both horses were hurled lifelessly away from the track. The body was brought to Alexandria and later returned to his home. It is said that the fireman of the passenger train was the only person who witnessed the accident. While no statement was obtained from the fireman, it is believed that Justice drove upon the track without making an effort to ascertain the danger. Justice was married, and besides the wife, two little children survive. Meeks undertaking firm was notified by the family, but the embalmers had not returned at a late hour. The funeral will be held in the Pleasant Run church, Sunday morning, the cortege leaving the residence at 11 o’clock. Interment will be made in the Jones cemetery near Reed’s Station. The sad death of Justice recalls the tragic death of his father, William Justice, which occurred about fifteen years ago in a thick woods north of Yorktown, where he had been falling trees. When found, the dead body of the elder Justice was found crushed beneath a huge tree.
