JASPER
The capital of Dubois county, twenty-four miles from Loogootee, on the Ohio &
Mississippi railroad. It is surrounded by a rich and well-cultivated tract of
land, hut stands much in need of railroad communication with the different
markets. It has several churches, a good school, and a fair representation of
the trades and professions. 
It has a population of about 500.
