Cripe, 65, a life long resident of Union township, died Friday afternoon at the home of his mother in law at Goshen. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at the Union Center church, of which he had been a member for 30 years; the Rev. David Miller and the Rev. John Fredericks officiating. Mr. Cripe was born Sept. 26, 1861, in Union township the son of Levi and Rebecca (Pippinger) Cripe. On March 1, 1883, he was married to Amanda Cripe. He had been blind for four years. On Feb. 17, last, he suffered a stroke of paralysis after which he steadily declined. Mr. Cripe is survived by his wife; eight children, Mrs. J. L. Mays, VVineland, N.J.; Mrs. J. C. Roose, Elkhart; A. S. Cripe and Otis Cripe, both of Chicago; M. T. Cripe, Holland, Mich.; Vern Cripe, Nappanee; Mrs. Hal Winters, Goshen; and Mrs. Ed Hepler, Nappanee; four brothers, Dan, Emanuel and Francis of Goshen, and Oliver of Nappanee and 22 grandchildren.
