She came to the Elkhart home five weeks ago, for a visit, and became seriously ill from heart trouble a week ago. The daughter of Tobias and Barbara (Burkett) Cripe, the deceased was born May 30, 1863, in Elkhart county. Her husband, John H. Cripe, died March 12, at their home in Union township. Soon after his death she went to live with Mr. and Mrs. Winters. In addition to Mrs. Roose and Mrs. Winters there are the following children: Mrs. Clara Maus of New Jersey, Alph Cripe of Chicago, Mervin Cripe of Kalamazoo, Vernon Cripe and Mrs. Laura Hepler of Nappanee and Otis Cripe of Marengo, Ill. There are five brothers, Simon, Jesse and Samuel Cripe of Chicago and Alonzo and Henry Cripe of Goshen, and a sister, Mrs. Bertha Weaver of Goshen. There are 25 grandchildren and 7 great- grandchildren. The body was taken to the Wright mortuary at Nappanee.
