He was mowing the lawn at the Lutheran church of which he was janitor, when stricken, and died two hours after being carried to his home, which is next door to the church. Mr. Hepler was employed for a number of years at the Mutchler Brothers factory and had worked there several hours Saturday morning. He is survived by his wife and a brother, Rastus Hepler of Bremen, three half brothers, Vert Sechrist, of South Bend, Oliver Sechrist of Kalamazoo and Oscar Sechrist of Nappanee; three half sisters, Mrs. Harold Weygand of Nappanee, Mrs. Chester Richmond of Nappanee and Mrs. Alfred Emmons of Kimmel. The funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow at the Lutheran Church by Rev. R. N. McMichael of Syracuse with burial at the Hepton cemetery. Milford Mail, 12 Jun 1924, p.1: H. Edward Hepler, who recently died at his home in Nappanee of heart disease, was a grandson of Mrs. Margaret Hepler of Milford. He was 53 years of age. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon of last week. Burial was made in the Hepton cemetery.
