Death was caused by pneumonia and complications. He was born January 16, 1921, in Kosciusko County. In addition to the parents he is survived by two brothers, Alfred Gears and Robert Dean Hepler, and two sisters, Ethel May and Verda Marie. The funeral, Friday at 2 p.m., will be at the Hepton church, south of Nappanee, the Rev. Marion Schroyer officiating. Burial will be in the Hepton cemetery. Merl was a member of the Mt. Tabor church.
