That she is the widow of James Basil McClain who entered under the name of James B. McClain at New Albany Indiana Sept 1861 in Co D 38th Indiana Volunteers, War of the Rebellion, who died near Salem Washington CO Indiana on the day of Sept 1881. That she was married under the name of Elizabeth Wade to said James B McClain on 27th day of Sept 1853 by Reverend James Noble of New Albany Indiana, there being no legal barrier to such marriage, that said claimant had not been previously married but that the said soldier had been divorced(Jane Hall) as fully appears in claim 291 936. That she has not remarried and is wirh out means of support other than her daily laabor, that the following are the names and ........... of all said soldiers legitament children who were under sixteen years of age at the time of his death to widow. His by herself Eva( Mary Eveline Eichorn) March 31 1869 Nathaniel Jewett 1866 His by former marriage-none. That she has not in any manner been engaged in, aided or abetted the Rebellion in the Unided State that prior application # 291 936 has been filed in her behalf that their with out ways of support or other than her own manuel labor that she hereby appoints George B Cardwell of New Albany Indiana her true and lawfull attorney to prosecute her claim that her residence and post office address is Elizabeth McClain Attest John Hahn Fred Sauer Also personally appeared John Hahn and William Stolzer of New Albany Indiana persons who I certify to be respected and.............and who being by me duly sworn say they were present and saw Elizabeth McClain the claiment make her mark in the foregoing declaration that they have every reason to believe from the appearance of said claimant and their acquaintence with her that she is the person she represents herself to be and that they have no interest in this claim.
