In the fall of 1871 he went to Indianapolis, and took a course of lectures at the Indiana Medical College. He then went to Waveland, Montgomery county, Indiana, and continued to study medicine with his brother, J. W. Mock. His next move was to attend the Medical College of Cincinnati, Ohio, graduating in the spring of 1874. He then accepted the position of assistant physician in the Good Samaritan Hospital, of Cincinnati, and remained about one year, then took a position in the Longview Asylum, near Cincinnati, where he spent three years.
