W. Love George Edmund Wilson LOVE, 66, Rt. 7, Big Tree Condominium, Rochester, died art 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Hospital, Kokomo, following a six-month illness. He was born Feb. 25, 1924 in El Paso, Texas. He had lived in Peru, Kokomo and Rochester, and before then, a number of years in the Panama Canal Zone. On July 11, 1986 in Rochester he married Luella TALLEN McGUIRE, who survives. He was retired from the U.S. Navy. He was a graduate of the University of Texas-El Paso. He had been the executive director of Air Force Education for 27 years, 21 of those years at Grissom Air Force Base. A building in the educational center at Grissom AFB “The George E.W. Love Building,” was named in his honor. He was exalted ruler of the Rochester Elks Lodge and districrt and local chairman of the VFW’s Voice of Democracy scholarship program. He was a past commander of the VFW in the Panama Canal Zone. He was a life member of the Manitou VFW and a member of the Rochester American Legion Post. He was a past state scholarship chairman of the VFW, and was a member of the Peru Maennerchor. Surviving with his wife are three daughters, Mrs. Ken (Laura) GLATFELTER, Wellesboro, Pa.; Mrs. Steven (Lisa J.) MULLIN, Delphi, and Mrs. Melvin (Lauren) SMITH, Peru; two sons, George [LOVE] Jr., Lakeland, Fla., and Kevin M. [LOVE], Port au Port, Newfoundland; a step-daughter, Mrs. Larry (Frances “Tomi”) HUYS, Birmingham, Ala.; two step-sons, Michael Carson McGUIRE, St. Louis, Mo., and James “Tim” McGUIRE, Rockford, Ill.; fifteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and a brother, Jack LOVE, Panama Canal Zone. Preceding in death were two brothers. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Foster & Good Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. Ken BYLAND officiating. This will be followed by military memorial services by the VFW and the American Legion. Burial will be in the Albright Cemetery, Kokomo. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Saturday and from 1-5 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday. Memorials may be made to the Elks Charity fund or the local Voice of Democracy Scholarship program.
