VanSteenberg Leslie J. VanSTEENBERG, 74, of 2101 Westside Road, Lake Manitou, died at 5:38 a.m. today at Woodlawn Hospital. He was born July 13, 1916 in Peru to George and Naomi WHINNERY VanSTEENBERG. He moved from Abilene, Texas to Rochester in 1966. On March 28, 1942 in Fort Wayne he married Marjorie H. KRATZMAN, who died May 1, 1985. He was a retired Air Force major, having been a pilot in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Rochester Elks and Moose lodges, the Rochester VFW and American Legion posts and the Humps Pilots Association. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Sharon) MUTCHLER, Rochester; a son, Kurt [VanSTEENBERG], Rochester, and two grandchildren, Travis and Andrea MUTCHLER, Rochester. Preceding in death was a sister, Jean FORRESTER. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Zimmerman Brothers Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. Carl RICKS officiating. Burial will be in the Rochester I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday.
