MAURICE WHEELER Gibson County, Indiana Father: Lawrence Wheeler, Sr. Mother: Flora A. Massey MAURICE WHEELER -- DEATH OF A LITTLE CHILD Infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Lon Wheeler called away. The angel of death laid hands on Maurice Wheeler, little son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Wheeler, of this city Saturday evening and a happy home was left in sadness. The little son was just ten months old. Death occurred at Hazleton where the father is engaged in business, and resulted from congestion of the lungs after a sickness of several weeks during which time every effort known to human skill was made to restore the little one to health. The remains were brought to this city this morning and the funeral held at 3 o'clock today at the Wheeler home in West Broadway. The little casket was draped with beautiful floral offerings presented by friends. Rev. Dr. T. G. Cocks of the First Methodist church, conducted services. During his remarks he paid a most touch- ing tribute to the little one departed saying, "Ten months ago today our Father favored this home with his divinest blessing. His gift of baby Maurice on the 21st of June last welcomed with joy and thanksgiving by his parents. And the little one immedi- ately found the tenderest place in the hearts of all who became acquainted with his infantile loveliness. Every claim which could endear a child to those around it be- longed peculiarly to this one. Sunny tem- pered, happy hearted, patient in spirit and of a most loving disposition, he was the perfect embodiment of the Redeemer's thought of such is the kingdom of heaven." After the services the little body was ten- derly laid to rest in the Odd Fellows ceme- tery. In this sad hour the bereaved parents have the sincere sympathy and condolence of their large circle of friends." ------------------------------------------------------------------ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by : Roy Wheeler (© 1997 Roy Wheeler ) USGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages cannot be reproduced in any format for profit or other presentation.
