Last Will and Testament of John Horner
In the name of the benevolent Father of all, I John Horner sen. of Grant County and
state of Indiana do make and publish this my last will and testament.
ITEM 1st. I give and devise to my beloved wife the farm on which we now reside
situate in Mill Township County and State aforsaid during her natural life during
which time it is my will that my son Joseph shall receive his support together
with his mother during her lifetime from the aforsaid farm. And I further wish my
son John to take charge of the farm together with his mother, and also of the
personal property, and that he shall dispose of as much of said personal property as
soon as convenient and in the most profitable manner as shall be sufficient to pay
my just debts.
It is also my wish that my daughter Cynthia A. shall have thirty dollars,
and my daughter Keziah shall have forty five dollars, and further that my son
Jackson shall have one hundred and nine dollars and that my two daughters above
named shall each have a bed and bedding as my other daughters have had who have
previously married, and also that my son John shall have six hundred and forty four
dollars. And further, it is my will that at the decease of my said wife the above
real estate shall be equally divided between my children towit (after paying the
above mentioned legacies) or sale made of the same as a majority of them may deter-
mine and the proceeds divided between my children towit; George, Samuel, Joseph,
John, & Jackson & Phebe, Cynthia Ann & Keziah.
Lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint my son John Horner executor of this
my last will and testament and do hereby revoke all former wills by me made.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 3rd day of
May in the year one thousand eight hundred and fifty five.

testament in our presence, and signed by us in his presence.
