Rankin McClaren was a farmer, and died here about 1851. Our subject was reared to farming, and has followed it with success. April 19, 1857, he married Elizabeth Dyar, and to the union were born nine children— Laura E., born March 9, 1859; Huldah M., February 19, 1862; Nancy G., May 3, 1864; Samuel W., July 8, 1866; George O., July 29, 1868; Llewella, August 24, 1870; Grace, September 17, 1872; Lessie, December 23, 1875; William R., July 3, 1881. Mr. McClaren and wife are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church at Oak Grove. He owns 490 acres of excellent land, well improved, and devotes most of his attention to stock-raising. He is a Democrat and usually takes a lively interest in public affairs.
