Brownsburg; son of Thos. D. and Sarah A. Barker; was born at Indianapolis, Ind., Nov. 15, 1847; he settled in this county in 1868, at Brownsburg. Married at Gloversillve, N.Y., Dec. 26, 1872, to Sarah A. Eastman; they have three children--Sarah Catherine, Thomas Dennis and Ornan. Dr. Barker graduated in medicine at "Bellevue Hospital Medical College," New York City, in 1870. BROWN, DANIEL D., P.O. Clermont, Marion Co.; Farmer, Sec. 19; born in Fayette Co., Ky., June 6, 1824; son of James B., b. Aug. 23, 1775, d. March 29, 1861, and Jane Runyon, b. 1790, d. Feb. 11, 1862; Ellis H., Mrs. Jane V. Harmon, Lazena, Ennis. BURNS, JOHN T., P.O. Brownsburg; Att'y; son of Henry F. and Sarah Thomas Burns; was born in Fleming Co., Ky., July 8, 1833, and settled in this county in 1858. Married March 19, 1858, to Parthenia Ann Nash; children--Maria Frances, Eudora Jane, Walter Lander. Mr. Burns was a member of the Legislature in 1865; was File Clerk in House of Representatives in 1867. DOBSON, JAMES A. C., was born in Fayette Co., Ind., June14, 1833. At 7 years old, removed with his father to Marion Co., where he resided until grown. He received an academic education, and began teaching school in Boone Co., at the age of 17. He engaged in teaching for several years, during which time he partially prepared himself for the practice of medicine, but entered the drug business, instead. He moved to Brownsburg, in Hendricks County, in 1857, and married Miss Ann E. McQuown, in 1858. He entered the army in 1862, as a private soldier, and served in the 79th Ind. Vols., was severely wounded at the battle of Stone River, and was afterward appointed Dispensary Steward of Dennison General Hospital, one of the largest in the U.S., in which capacity he served two years. He has always taken a very active interest in education. He was elected first County Superintendent of Hendricks Co., in which capacity he has served ever since. FREE, TABITHA J., MRS., P.O. Brownsburg; born in Wayne Co., Ind., Sept. 18, 1828; daughter of Thomas and Sarah Hollett, natives of Kentucky; setled in this county in 1837. Brownsburg; Farmer, Section 21; settled in this county in 1838; born in New Haven Co., Conn., Feb. 19, 1800; son of Asa Hoadley, born in 1763, died Feb. 6, 1834, and Esther Tyler, born in 1761, died May 2, 1857; natives of Connecticut. Married Dec. 4, 1821, to Orelia Phelps, born in Connecticut Dec. 3, 1802; two children--Dr. Asa T. Hoadley, died in Pittsburgh, Aug. 15, 1857, aged 30 years, and James G. JENKINS, W.M., P.O. Brownsburg; Farmer, Section 22; born in Guilford Co., N.C., Oct. 15, 1833; son of John, born in Randolph Co., N.C., March 28, 1798; died Sept. 18, 1842, and Rebecca Worthington, born in North Carolina, May 24, 1804, still living; parents settled in this county in 1833. W.M. was married Jan. 23, 1863, to Hannah L. Reed, died March 16, 1867; again married Nov. 8, 1876, to Jennie Townsend; two children--Luella W. and John L. JONES, WILLIAM N., P.O. Clermont, Marion Co., Farmer, Section 19; born in this county Feb. 22, 1828; son of Van S. Jones, born July 1, 1799, and Nancy Plummer, born Feb. 26, 1796; natives of Fleming Co., Ky., settled in this county in 1826. Married March 1, 1849, to Lydia Ann Brown, born in this county July 15, 1828; seven children-- Sarah J., Charles H., Willis, Nancy E., Daniel, William O. and Mary. MEDSKER, PETER, P.O. Brownsburg; Retired Farmer; born in Highland Co., Ohio, March 22, 1817; son of Michael Medsker, born in Germany in 1781, died Aug. 5, 1845, and Sarah Barr, born in Germany in 1784, died April 11, 1838; settled in Ohio at a very early date. Married May 26, 1842, to Elizabeth Gray, born April 5, 1825; seven children- -Sarah E., died Aug. 11, 1844; John T., William H., Mrs. Mary Patterson, Margaret A., died Dec. 2, 1864; James M. and Effie J., died Oct. 15, 1861.
