State of Indiana. County of Hendricks. On this 20th day of March, A.D.1879 personally appeared before me, a Notary Public, within and for the county and State aforesaid, Elizabeth White, aged 59 years, a resident of Clayton, P.O., in the State of Indiana, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that she is a widow of Samuel White deceased, who was the identical Samuel White , who served under the name of Samuel White as a private in the company commanded by Captain William Kilgore, in the regiment of Ohio Mil. commanded by Colonel McDaniel in the war of 1812; that her said husband Samuel White enlisted in Ross Co., Ohio on or about the 23 day of July, A.D. 1813 and continued in actual service in said war for the term of at least 40 days, and whose services terminated, by reason of discharge.  She further states that the following is a full description of her said husband at the time of his enlistment, viz: (blank). She further states that she was married to the said Samuel White, at the city of Bowling Green, in the county of Clay, and in the State of Indiana, on the 18 day of February A.D. 1837, by one John Williams, who was an ordained Minister and that her name before her said marriage was Elizabeth Knighten, and that she has not remarried since the death of the said soldier: and she further states that Samuel White was previously married to one Dorcas Tutor and who died some years previous to her marriage to said Samuel White, and that her said husband Samuel White, died at Clayton, P.O., in the State of Indiana, on the 2nd day of February, A.D, 1879; and she further declares that the following have been the places of residence of herself and her said husband since the date of his discharge from the Army, viz: I have lived with Samuel White since our marriage in Hendricks County in the State of Indiana. Her residence is Clayton P.O., county of Hendricks, State of Indiana, and that her post-office address is Clayton, Hendricks Co. Indiana. (Claimant's Signature) Elizabeth White Attest: B.F. Below is marriage evidence for the marriage of Samuel White and Elizabeth Knighten/Knighton, included in the Widow's Pension papers. State of Indiana. Clay County. John Williams, a resident of the county and state aforesaid upon his oath says that on or about the 18th day of February 1851, he solemnized the marriage of Samuel White and Elizabeth Knighton, in the capacity of a minister of the Gospel and made return to the Clerk of the Court for said county. (Signed): John Williams. Subscribed and Sworn to before me March 12th A.D. 1879, Clinton M. Thompson, Notary Public. The State of Indiana. County of Clay Co. I, Elias C. Kil(the rest of the name, not able to read, it might be Kilmer), Clerk of the Clay Circuit Court within and for the State of Indiana, certify that the records of the clerks office of Clay county Ind were destroyed by fire on the 30th day of November 1851 and that no record of the above marriage appears in this office.
